I think the families who were earlier the cultivators as u said had now become agricultural labour. I think this might be because for cultivation they need large amount of money. And as we all knew that most of the farmers in our country faces problems regarding money. And even cultivation needs large amount of maintenance. So I think that these reasons forced them to work as agricultural labour.
