At the top were the Brahmins, the priests monks etc. Next in line were kshatriyas, the warrior class (rulers, kings). Then the vaishiyas, the merchant caste, big landowners etc. Lastly were the shudras which were the Labour class. Another fact is that, women were mostly categorised as untouchables.
