Suppose no. Of horses =x
So no. Of person on horses =x/2
And no. Of legs for those horses =x/2*4=2x
No. Of persons walking with horses =x/2
No. Of legs for those horses and persons
=x/2*4+x/2*2=2x+x=3x
Therefore
Total no. Of legs =2x+3x+5x
Also given that it is 70
5x=70
x=14
Hope this helps

Answer:

14

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the number of horses.

Number of men = x

Number of men on the ground = 1/2x

Find the number of horses:

Horses have 4 legs and men have 2 legs.

4x + 2(1/2 x) = 70

5x = 70

x = 14

Answer: There are 14 horses.
