Given:

No. of toys Danny and Rick have = 34

No. of toys Andrew has = 9 + No. of toys with Mary

No. of toys Lisa has = 5 + No. of toys with Danny

No. of toys Nina has = 0.5(No. of toys with Mary + No. of toys with Lisa)

No. of toys with Andrew and Mary = 25

No. of toys with Andrew = 5 + No. of toys with Danny

To find:

No. of toys with Danny.

Solution:

Let no. of toys that Danny, Rick, Andrew, Mary, Lisa, and Nina be D,R,A,M,L,N

Then, on formulating the given information:

D+R=34...(1)

A=9+M...(2)

L=5+D...(3)

N=\frac{1}{2}(M+L)...(4)

A+M=25...(5)

A=5+D...(6)

From equations (2) and (5),

A+M=25

A=9+M

9+M+M=25

2M=25-9=16

M=\frac{16}{2}=8

A=9+M=9+8=17

From equation (6),

A=5+D

17=5+D

D=17-5=12

Hence, Danny has 12 toys in total. Thus, the first option is correct.

Danny has 12 toys in total. The first option is the correct answer.
