Answer:

There are 60 men were there originally.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Some men promised to do job in 18 days but 6 of them went to leave so the remaining took 20 days to complete the job.

To find : How many men were there originally?

Solution :

Let the total number of men be 'x'.

Some men promised to do job in 18 days.

6 of them went to leave i.e. 'x-6' men left.

Remaining work took  20 days to complete the job.

According to question,

Number of men = Days of working

\frac{x}{x-6}=\frac{20}{18}

Cross multiply,

18x=20(x-6)

18x=20x-120

20x-18x=120

2x=120

x=\frac{120}{2}

x=60

Therefore, There are 60 men were there originally.
