some nationalist historians have called the revolt of 1857 thr first war of independence . however ,many modern historians refute this claim by saying that neither was it the fist nor was it a war of independence . what do they mean

Many Modern historians refused this that the revolt of 1857 should be consider as first war of independence. They simply mean that it was sepoy mutiny just took place coz of enfield refiles and it was only limited to the northern parts of the country. And before it many short revolts had taken place in Indian History. So they don't consider the revolt as 'First war of Independence'.

In out history books we generally studied that 10 May 1857 was the first revolt of Indians against Britishers....

But,, some historian refused to accept that....

They mean to say that revolt was not sufficient and able to pressurize the Britishers so ,, we can't call that first revolt...
