so now ,

x = y +10 ----(2)

◆x - y = 10 -----(3)

◆by adding (1) and (3) , we get,

x = 84 /2 = 42

x = 42

now put value of "x" in equation (2), we get,

42 = y + 10

y = 42 - 10

y = 32

hence x = 42 ,y = 32 are the two numbers whose sum is 74.
