some of Grandfather's pets objected; but there was no way of getting rid of the bird - please explain this sentence in English or in Marathi

so basically (im assuming this is from ruskin bond?), grandfather had a  bird. he had no way of getting rid of the bird so he must have tried everything he loud do. some of his other pets objected; they may feel there is a way of getting rid of it?
