I will tell them not to waste food and throw it into waste bin.
It is not a good thing to waste food when there are people not having enough food to eat. The leftovers in a restaurant may be sent to some orphanages. But it is perhaps not the proper way of feeding orphans and beggars, to give them discarded and thrown food.
When we waste food, that means the farmers have to produce more food. That means that the demand for crops is higher. So the prices go up. If less food is needed and there is sufficient production, the government has less to worry about. So prices are in control.
Wasted and discarded food in waste bins on the street allow flies, mosquitoes, insects and bacteria to grow. There will be a menace from dogs , pigs etc.
Discarding food is not a good sign of rich person. It does not give any additional prestige or status to a person. Other other hand, it shows the bad calculation and over enthusiasm of the person.
Solution is to take home the food which remains extra. Or order one item by another and not many at a time.
The first time it may happen that a person does not calculate the food in advance. But afterwards, a person can know the amount of food that he needs.
The mothers in India teach their children that wasting food is a sin and the Gods get angry. It may be silly saying , but it is true that Gods get angry when food is wasted. In Hindu religion and in Vedas it is told that "annam paramaushadham " and "annam parabrahma swaroopam." That means rice (food) is a divine medicine and is nothing but the God of creation.
The estimation by world voluntary and UNO wings is that around a billion people do not eat enough food or hungry. At least millions of tonnes of food is wasted by many countries in the world. Reducing wastage helps many around the world. Also it develops a good discipline in us.
