Politics and social divisions should not be allowed to mix because:-
1. Parties already involve partisanship and division among groups. Therefore, if social divisions are expressed in politics, the situation can become very explosive.
2., In Northern Ireland, there has been a bitter fight between the Catholics and the Protestants because of their divisions. The Catholics were represented by Nationalists who wanted Northern Ireland to be joined to Ireland while the Protestants were represented by Unionists who wanted the country to remain in the United Kingdom. Several people on both sides were killed because of the conflict.
3. In Yugoslavia, social and political divisions led to the disintegration of the country into six countries. This shows how disastrous a social and political divisions can become.
4. If social divisions are expressed in politics, there is a very high chance of conflict among different social groups.
