charlie: Vegetative propagation is a form of asexual reproduction of a plant. Only one plant is involved and the offspring is the result of one parent. The new plant is genetically identical to the parent. when a plant is not propagated sexually then it is done by vegetative propagation

Some plants are produced only by vegetative propagation probably because they do not have viable seeds or they are genetically important.

Explanation:

  • Vegetative propagation is the asexual reproduction in plants where new plants develop from a single parent plant; it develops from vegetative structures like stems, roots or leaves. New plants produced are genetically identical.
  • When some plants do not produce viable seeds they resort to vegetative propagation.
  • Or, in some cases, agricultural or economically beneficial genetic background of plants is important which are then vegetatively propagated.
