Some salts can be made by a reaction between a metal and acid. Magnesium
metal placed in sulfuric acid produces the salt magnesium sulfate and the gas
hydrogen.

1.Name another metal that can produce a salt in this way.

2. Why is sodium chloride not made by reacting sodium with an acid?

3. Why is copper sulfate not made by reacting copper with dilute sulfuric
acid?

Answer:

1 ans: hydrochloric acid produces chloride salts. nitric acid produces nitrate salts. sulfuric acid produces sulfate salts.

2 ans: his is because sodium with acid is a vigorous reaction

3 ans: The two main ingredients to create copper sulphate are copper and sulphuric acid, but simply adding copper to a diluted acidic solution will not promote the oxidation reaction. ... In practical terms, this means copper cannot reduce hydrogen (from H2SO4), and therefore the reaction does not occur.
