Some say the world will end in fire
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Answer:

Here, in the poem "Fire and Ice", the poet wants to ask how the world will end. Here, fire is symbolised as desire and ice as hatred. According to the poet the world will one day end due to the reason of human desire. In other words, some say people's hatred will end the world. But, actually both may be the reason behind the ending of the earth. To save this motherly planet we should sacrifice the desire and hatred in us.
