Cotyledons are an important part inside an embryo.

Indeed there are plants where cotyledons cannot be perceived at all and it has been deduced that in a genera of 1050 seeds, there are 6 without cotyledons.

Thus, if we go by the observation of Gaertner, some seeds not having cotyledons is true.
