Solids that have very high vapor pressures do not diffuse in gases because of their resistance to form vapor.

some solids diffuse in air because they need more intermolecular space that air can provide but water can not. Solids diffusion in liquids is a normal phenomenon. ... But in other gases some solids directly dissolves into gas. This phenomenon is known as sublimation
