 \huge{  \mathfrak{here \: is \: answer}}

let the number of students who planned the picnic were x.

hence, cost of. food for each member= ₹
 \frac{500}{x - 5}

but the number of. students who. actually attend =(x-5)

hence, actual cost of food=₹
 \frac{500}{x - 5}
according to. question

  \sf{ \frac{500}{x - 5} -  \frac{500}{x}   = 5}

500x-500(x-5)=5x(x-5)

=> 2500=5x2-25x. (divide both side by 25)

 \sf{ {x}^{2}  - 25x - 500 = 0}

 \sf{ {x}^{2}  - 25x + 20x - 500 = 0}

 \sf{x(x - 25) + 20(x - 25) = 0}

 \sf{(x + 20)(x - 25) = 0}

hence

  \bf{x = 25 \: and \: x =  - 20}
(-20 will rejected..).

hence x=25

no of students who. planned picnic = 25

and who attend = 25-5=20

Answer:

20...

Step by step explanation...

Let there were x students, then contribution of one student = 500x500x

Contribution of each student when 5 of them have left = 5000x−55000x−5

Given, 500x−5−500x500x−5−500x = 5

= 5

using options, we find x = 25 satisfies the equation.

Therefore, number of students who attended the picnic = (25 - 5) = 20...

hope it helps..
