substances, solid, liquid and gaseous states exist at the correct
temperature and pressure.
Diamond does not exist in the gaseous state. Upon melting, the liquid carbon is no longer diamond.
Dry ice (the solid form of carbon di oxide) goes directly to a gas at normal pressures. Given sufficient pressure (in a steel cylinder) the liquid form can exist. Any solid compound which decomposes upon heating will never be found in the liquid state, but sometimes very low pressure and laser excitation can turn the solid into a gas.
