area of a hexogon =√3+3/2a^2

√3+3/2*8=167 approximate

area of rectangle=l*b

4*12=48

area of this figure=167+48=215approx

In case of Hexagon,

\boxed{\displaystyle\sf{Number\:of\:sides\:in\:Hexagon=6}}

\boxed{\displaystyle\sf{Area\:of\:a\:Hexagon=\frac{1}{2}\times Perimeter \times Apothem}}

\boxed{\displaystyle\sf{Perimeter\:of\:a\:Hexagon=6\times side}}

\boxed{\displaystyle\sf{Apothem\:of\:a\:Hexagon= \frac{Number\:of\:Sides}{2\times tan30^o}}}

Now, come to the question.

Given,

  • Length of one side = 8 cm

\longrightarrow\displaystyle\sf{Apothem=\frac{6}{2\times \frac{1}{\sqrt3}} = \frac{6\sqrt3}{2}=3\sqrt3\:cm

\longrightarrow\displaystyle\sf{Perimeter=6\times8=48\:cm

\longrightarrow\displaystyle\sf{Area=\frac{1}{2}\times48\times3\sqrt3=72\sqrt3\:cm^2

In case of rectangle,

\boxed{\displaystyle\sf{Number\:of\:Sides\:in\:a\:Rectangle=4}}

\boxed{\displaystyle\sf{Area\:of\:a\:Rectangle=Length\times Breadth}}

Now, come to the question,

Given,

  • Length = 12 cm
  • Breadth = 4 cm

\longrightarrow\displaystyle\sf{Area=12\times 4=48\:cm^2

Now,

\boxed{\displaystyle\sf{Combined\:Area=Area\:of\:Hexagon+Area\:of\:Rectangle}}

\longrightarrow\displaystyle\sf{Combined\:Area=72\sqrt3+48=124.70+48=172.7\:cm^2

\boxed{\displaystyle\sf{Combined\:Area=172.7\:cm^2}}
