This question, if i had to do from the fundamentals, it would take so much time that even i could teach maximum concepts of fluid dynamics to someone. This is very complicated if we start from the very basics! Assuming you already know some high powered things like bernoulli's equation and a bit of logic this is just a piece of cake!!
The question should have mentioned that to figure out volume flow rate just after cutting a hole of radius r not at later time because it would involve derivatives otherwise --- its definitely pain in the neck.
So i give you hints for both cases
- First understand the derivation of bern. eq properly and try to apply it urself for this situation.
- Now use the fact that the liquid is incompressible ( Volume of it remains constant) {popularly known as equation of continuity}
- You got the answer for the first case
- for the second case, if you are in class 11 forget about it.. if you are in 12th class apply your knowledge of derivatives to the height part!!
Sorry i couldnt solve it completely because there is no gain for both u and me if i did that. Hope you understand..
