Hi ,

At present
_________

Let the daughter age = x years

mother's age = 3x years

After 12 years
____________

Daughters age = ( x + 12 ) years

Mother's age = ( 3x + 12 ) years

According to the problem given ,

3x + 12 = 2 ( x + 12 )

3x + 12 = 2x + 24

3x - 2x = 24 - 12

x = 12

Therefore ,

At present ,

Daughters age = x = 12 years

Mother's age = 3x = 3 × 12 = 36 years.

I hope this helps you.

let 12 years ago age of daughter - x years
present age of daughter- (12+x) years
12 years later age of daughter- (12+12+x)

let 12 years ago age of mother-3x years
present age of mother - (12+3x) years
12 years later age of mother- (12+12+3x) years

mother= daughter
(12+12+3x)= 2(12+12+x)
24+3x= 24+24+x
24+3x= 48+x
3x-x=-24+48
2x= 24
x=24÷2
x=12
