The blanket of atmosphere that surrounds us is known as Environment. It is composed of two components namely Abiotic components and Biotic Components. The difference between the Abiotic components and Biotic Components are as follows:

  • Abiotic components refer to the non-living factors which affect the environment such as water, wind, sunlight etc whereas Biotic components refer to living factors such as plants and animals.
  • Abiotic components include physical and chemical factors which as non-living in nature such as hydrosphere, lithosphere where as biotic components include all living organisms categorised into producers, consumers and decomposers as per their nature.

Biotic and Abiotic components together comprise of our Ecosystem and Environment.
