HERE YOUR ANSWER IS

ANSWER

False.

REASON

Carbon forms four 'covalent bonds' in its compounds because it needs to share its four valence electrons with four atoms of other carbon or four atoms of other element.

WHAT IF IT HAS IONIC BOND?

☆Since carbon valency is four it needs to gain lose 4 atoms to octet state (stable with 8 electrons)

☆If it gains 4 electrons,it's nucleus cannot hold with 10 electrons ( ie four extra electrons)

☆If it lose 4 electrons , electrons cannot hold position in their orbitals since in this case you would find 2 electrons and 6 protons.
