Let the number of boys be 'x'
The mean marks of boys are 70,,,
so Mean marks= (Total marks of boys)/No of boys
so the total marks obtained by boys will be 70x.
No. of Girls be 'y'
Total marks obtained by Girls= 73y
Now mean marks of all students(x+y) is 71
i.e
total marks of all the students= 71(x+y)
since total marks will be equal
70x+73y= 71(x+y)
70x+73y= 71x+71y
2y= x
x/y= 2/1
x:y=2:1
