They are basically irregular shaped slab of solid rocks.
They are piece of Earth's Crust and uppermost mantle, and they together make up lithosphere.

They have 3-classifications:-

1)Convergent plates

2)Divergent plates

3)Transform Plates

Earthquake's also occurs due to fault in these plates.
