someone wiped the upper and lower surfaces of leaves with an oily cloth to remove all the dust particles to give it a shiny look after a few days the plant died what could be the possible reason behind this

by wiping with oil the stomata (pores ) on the leaf gets blocked. thus the gas exchange doesn't occur and sun light doesn't pass through it and the photosynthesis may not occur and the plant may die
