• At a young age, Bhagat Singh began following the Non-Cooperation Movement, started by Mahatma.
• Two happenings in his childhood days imbibed strong patriotic feeling in Bhagat Singh: the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in the year 1919 and the killing of unarmed Akali protesters at the Nankana Sahib in the year 1921.
• He died at the age of 23. On 23rd March 931, Bhagat Singh was hung by the British in Lahore jail with his comrades Sukhdev and Rajguru.
• Following his death, Bhagat Singh’s followers and supporters regarded him as a "Shaheed" (martyr).
