Answer:

Christians didn’t like them

It is difficult to find petroglyphs in Poland. They were victims of blind fight of Christianity with the pagan religions. The holy symbols of the tribes, which settled the territory between the Odra and Vistula River were destroyed sooner than people started to take care about their historical value. Old carvings were dangerous to the new faith.

Their roots are unknown

The roots of the people who created megalithic structures in Poland remain unknown. Not always, but very often the researchers still cannot explain the roots of the people, who created the kurgans, stone rings and other structures. Although, some researchers believe that they can identify the cultures, there are still many questions related to this topic

Celts or Slavs?

Some of the megaliths appear as related to the Celtic culture. It is believed that Celts arrived in the territory of southern Poland. Several copper and salt mines related to Celts had been discovered. Moreover, the city of Radom seems to be an important settlement of Celtic culture, however, most of the possible evidences stay buried under the city. The researchers still discuss when these people arrived and there is still no good answer to this question.

Polish Pyramids

Nearby the place called Dolice in West Pomerania, is located a complex of so-called ”Polish Pyramids”. The megalithic structures were 150 meters long,6-16 meters wide and 3 meters tall. They are covered by the forest, so the excavations are difficult challenge. However, the researchers were able to explore several tombs. Moreover, they claim that there are a few burials, which are believed to be unlooted. The site is connected with the Funnel Beaker Culture, which lived in this area between the 5th and 3rd century BC.

Polish Stonehenge

In Czaplinek the researchers discovered the stone ring, which has some similarities to the Stonehenge. The construction of the circle looks like the people, who created it knew the megalith from Britain.

Ancient Etruscan’s among Pomeranian’s

The Pomeranian Culture had contacts with the Etruscans. Therefore, in the 5th century BC they started to create burials with the urns decorated with the faces of a deceased person. This unique urns, buried in cists, stopped to be in use during the 4th century BC, but until now stay one of the greatest mysteries.

Where Giants dwell

‘The Hill of Giants’ is a name of a site located in the Łobez Land in West Pomerania. A structure made of huge blocks of stones has been discovered in 2011. The impressive size of stones and its location on the hill suggest that it was a very important place, however, the researchers still try to find out its meaning.

Nazi temple in Odry

The complex of megalithic stone rings from Odry almost became an occultist temple of Nazis. When they arrived to the old place of cult located in the northern Poland, they decided to recover old rings and make it the center of their rituals. Due to their works, the site in Odry had been partly reconstructed, however, the World War II ended before the Nazis were able to start their practices in Odry.

Rural houses full of archaeological treasure

Many of the elements of the megaliths were used in the buildings of farmers. They recovered stones, bronze and even the wooden planks from the burials and other structures. Therefore, the researchers often search for elements of the megalithic treasures in the modern human settlements.
