Hola!
Often these days the number of children going to counsellors are increasing. Why?
These days children are suffering from depression. Why?
The only answer to this question is the extra pressure parents put on their students. These days the student are achieving very good marks. But nobody knows what is the real story behind at. Nobody knows till when at night the child had to study. Nobody knows how the child anxious the child was when the results would be declared.
Parents these days are demanding. They want their kids to shine. There is no harm in that. Some parents are perfectly normal. They treat their children normally. But there are some parents who (maybe just because they want their kid's well being) apply wrong methods for it.
Parents often force their kids to study , study and study. As a result the children do not have any time left all that day's work to spend for themselves. They don't have time to play outdoor games and exercise. This creates a lot of health issues and diseases.
Some parents sometimes go further. They threat their children to get good marks. Until results are out the children go under depression. And whenever they fail to get their parent's expected marks they get a good spanking or beating.
But we never really think about the students who are facing these issues. Instead after their parents sometimes all the credit goes to their parents for being strict.
Sometimes other parents get influenced by such strict parents and become strict too. They think that being strict will make their child's marks improved. But they forget the fact that how their own kids has to go through all this
So parents should be strict but not too strict that their kid's have to go through mental pressure and stress.

Well, this practice of pressuring of parents on their child had been established from early times. This is totally wrong as parent doesn't care about the interests about their child.
Now the question comes, how it is wrong.
firstly making a stress and pressure on child to score good marks can make the child mentally sick. Due to pressure from parents he will not able to concentrate on his studies as he will only have one thing in mind that if he doesn't get good marks then he will be scolded by his parents. Also, after result declaration, if the child get little bad grades then he may go on the path of sucide. He may also take drugs to kep himself controlled and comfortable and taking drugs will become a habit of that child.
Now, moving forward to other topic that is parents doesn't care about the interests about their child and this can also be harmful for the parents and the child as well. The child because of not having rights to take decisions of his life on his own can lead him to depression. This depression will further come as anger and irritation on small things and slowly-slowly the child may be mentally attacked. This will just results in self-destruction or damaging surroundings.
But on the other hand, if the child is agreeing on his parent's decision then also he will face many obstacles. For eg. if a child has interest in science but because of his parent's decision he has to take commerce. Then, he willstudy commerce, may get good grades but doesn't have interest in it, then is life will totally spoil.
He will not get good jobs as don't have interest in that. And we all know, in this world everything is based on interest.
Hence, Sometimes parents make a stress, a pressure on their child of getting good marks in exams and reaching goal or sometimes parents also doesn't care about the interests about their child is very wrong.
In earlier times it was there but now time has changed, and we should also change according to time...
hope this will help...
