Sometimes when the surface of matchbox on which we strike matchstick becomes smooth the matchstick does not burn on striking. Why does it hapen​

Thus when we strike matchstick becomes smooth the matchstick does not burn on striking

Enough friction is not provided by the smooth surface to produce sufficient heat therefore matchstick doesn't burn
