sometimes you may notice black powder or white discs floating on the pickle or muramba when a jar is opened by your mother after long time what exactly are this why are such food items not good to eat how can the pickles or murambas be preserved safe for a long time?

The black powder or white discs found floating on the pickle or murabba on opening the jar after a long time is nothing but mold and yeast or fungus. Food items which are found with molds or fungus should not be consumed. On eating such food items one may experience food poisoning, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting.

  The pickles can be kept safe from the formation of yeast, mold and fungus by submerging it in brine. We can also store the pickles at 65⁰F and keep the mold and yeast at bay.
