Tone of the poem is changes from negative to positive. He calls the woods yellow, sorry, trodden black, doubt, shows poets pessimistic tone.But last line shows optimism.

Rhyme scheme of this poem is ABAAB.

Diction of the poem is formal.

Simile is used in 6 and 9th lines. In 6th line, he says he wants to choose one road which looks fair and attractive like a thing.

Metaphor is the direct comparison between two things. poet calls the woods yellow which represent the difficulties of path. Road is used as metaphor which exposes life. “grassy”is used as metaphor which represent the attraction of this road.

Metonymy calling something not by its true name but something associated with it like “yellow woods” represent the difficulties of life, road is resembled to life, “ages and ages”reveals the ancient people.
