Mother: Hello son

Son: Hi mom

Mother: What are your plans for the diwali festival

Son: Nothing much. probably just going to the temple and come back to catch up with some movies

Mother: Not a bad idea. are you inviting your friend Rajiv over for lunch?

Son: Not really as he is going through a rough time right now

Mother: Too bad. Talking of that, dont you think it would have been a good idea if you went there and talked to him? just be in the spirit of diwali. you know that is what its all about. showing goodness and kindness to those in need.

Son: I will think about it mom

Mother: Dont just think about it. make it happen. go practice what you will learn in the temple.

Son: OK mom

Mother. Thanks son.super proud of you

Son: Dear mother I did not enjoy much on this Diwali. There was so much of pollution! I think the time has come now when we must change the way we celebrate our festivals.

Mother: Yes, you are right, son. The population, urbanization, industrialization problems in our country have caused unprecedented pollution.

Son: I feel if we kept on following traditional life style, we would be in big trouble. There won’t be any oxygen left to breathe.

Mother: Again you are right, son. For example at Diwali we let off crackers. In the name of celebrating Diwali, people release tons of toxic pollution into the environment. We must celebrate Diwali differently. Our cities have already become polluted to the maximum.  We can’t afford to pollute them anymore! We must sacrifice bursting crackers. Crackers have only adverse effects; there is no single good thing associated with them! When we burn crackers, we actually burn our hard-earned money, purity of environment, jeopardize the health of children and elders.

Son: There is no doubt in that. I think people must realize the gravity of situation and become wiser. They should celebrate festivals but not cause pollution.
