Better Alone Than in a Bad Company

Ramesh was a student of 9 class. He was one of the most intelligent students of the class. He was the apple of his teachers’ eyes. All of us had quite high hopes on him. We were sure he would bring laurels to the school and his family alike. However, just one wrong decision of his ruined his life. He became victim of bad company. He had been such a bright student, but soon his brightness was clouded and dimmed until it was lost forever in the eternal darkness.  His parents asked him time and again to leave the company of his bad friends. But he did not listen to them. He secretly met them every day.

Ramesh’s father was a wise man; he made a plan to bring him on track. He bought 10 fresh, luscious apples; he also bought a rotten apple. He gave all the apples to his son and asked to take care of them. He also asked Ramesh to keep rotten apple among the healthy apples. After a few days when Ramesh opened the fridge to eat an apple, he found all apples had become rotten. He went to his father with a complaint.

The father told him, “You see, one rotten apple makes healthy apples rotten too. Similarly, one bad boy, makes good boys bad too.” Ramesh understood the lesson. He promised his father he would leave bad company.

Moral: Better alone than in a bad company.
