Sonalika and Kalyan Sona -

Sonalika and Kalyan Sona are varieties of wheat. Sonalika is developed from high yielding, semi-dwarf, fertilizer responsive wheat variety. The beginning of growing dwarf wheat cultivars was made by introducing the seeds of five varieties : Sonora 63, Sonora 64, Mayo 64, S 227 and Lerma Rozo 64-A along with around 200 other breeding lines of dwarf wheat through the courtesy of Rockefeller Foundation and Mexican Ministry of Agriculture in 1963. This provided the base material for development and commercial release of another five important varieties namely Sonalika, Kalyan Sona, PV 18, Chhoti Lerma and Safed Lerma thereby ushering in the Green Revolution in India.
These dwarf wheat were highly responsive to inputs and possessed desired level of disease resistance. Out of these varieties, Kalyan Sona and Sonalika became very much popular among the farmers in India because of their high yield, rust resistance, amber grain and adaptability to different soil and climatic conditions of the country and occupied nearly 10 million hectare of area in the country and made the Wheat Revolution to happen. Sonalika was released in the year 1967 and Kalyan Sona was released in 1970.

So, option (a) is correct.
