The people of Kerala are otherwise called Malayalis. This is because they speak language called Malayalam. Malayalis are simple and down to earth people with rich cultural heritage. They are so much attached to their religion,culture and traditional customs. They are very friendly and usually prefer healthy lifestyle.
We,Malayalis give much emphasis to education. No wonder why it still stands as the most literate state of the nation. Even though the parents may not be well educated,they try to give the best education for their children. So most of them at least get a Degree level education.
We are very thoughtful about our health and hence we try to have a balanced diet. For most of our auspicious occasions we prefer 'Sadya', which includes a wide variety of vegetarian dishes that are rich in nutritional value. Also we don't spend much in hospitals because we have our own home made remedies for many diseases :)
Our dress is other regalia of our simplicity. Even during special occasions we prefer the simple dress. Ladies usually wear 'Set mundu' which is similar to saree but requires careful draping. But believe me,this is so elegant and beautiful. Men usually prefer Mundu and Kurtha. The younger generation are very much trendy and updated. They wear all the modern costumes that suits their look.
The culture of Kerala is much attached to its history and tradition. It served as a melting pot for the cultures of the orient and occident. Kerala has given birth to many maestros of many fields including arts,sports,science and much more.
