according to the second statement :

sum of their ages = 30

( x ) + ( x + 8 ) = 30

x + x + 8 = 30

2x = 22

x = 11

therefore,

present of soni = x = 11 yrs

present age of sonu= x+8 =11 + 8 =19 yrs

Answer : soni = 11 yrs , sonu = 19yrs
