Answer

ATQ, if a perpendicular from center which is O is touched on a chord which is AD makes the chord into two equal parts.

AM = MD = AD/2 = 1.5 cm

Join OA and it will become as a radius and its value will be 2cm because diameter is 4cm.

OA = 2 cm

So, in ∆AMO, which is a Right triangle. By Pythagoras theorem,

OA² = AM² + OM²

» OM² = OA² - AM²

» OM² = 2² - 1.5²

» OM² = 4 - 2.25

» OM = √1.75

» OM = 1.3 cm (approx.)

Hence the Length of OM is 1.3 cm.
