sound cannot travel through vacuum as the intermolecular spaces between molecules are not present and sound needs a medium to travel so in vacuum there is no medium to travel.

Sound can also travel through other matter. Sound cannot travel through a vacuum. A vacuum is an area without any air, like space. So sound cannot travel through space because there is no matter for the vibrations to work in.
