$taking\:L.C.M.\: of \: the \:denominators\:16,\:4 \:\&\:8\:which\:is \:16$

= $\frac{12\:+\:(3\times 4)\:+\:(7\times 2)}{16}$

= $\frac{12\:+\:12\:+\:14}{16}$

= $\frac{38}{16}$

= 2.375 inches

Thus, the length of the jointed piece of paper in total is 2.375 inches.
