Sourabh joined three pieces of paper horizontally. they measure 12 /16 inches 3 / 4 inches and 7 / 8 inches how long is the jointed piece of paper in total​

To find:

The length of the jointed piece of paper in total

Solution:

We are given that Sourabh joins the 3 pieces of paper horizontally.

So, to find the total length of the jointed paper we will add the measurements of the given 3 pieces.

∴ The total length of the piece of paper is,

= \frac{12}{16} \:+ \:\frac{3}{4}\: +\: \frac{7}{8}

taking\:L.C.M.\: of \: the \:denominators\:16,\:4 \:\&\:8\:which\:is \:16

= \frac{12\:+\:(3\times 4)\:+\:(7\times 2)}{16}

= \frac{12\:+\:12\:+\:14}{16}

= \frac{38}{16}

= 2.375 inches

Thus, the length of the jointed piece of paper in total is 2.375 inches.
