Sourav was heating oil to fry potato chips. The cooking oil all of a sudden caught fire. He
took water to pour on the fire to extinguish it. But meanwhile his mother came and
switched off the gas and covered the wok completely with a plate.
Do you think pouring water to the burning oil would have worked? Why?
Do you think what Sourav's mother had done is right? Why?
Can you suggest other ways in which we can stop fire due to burning oil?

the answer is here so the sourav is wrong becoz when we pour water in oil the water may reacts more on water because the oil will be very heat and we will pour cold water or normal water the oil reacts same

souravs mother had did correct only we can cover the steel plate not plastic because it causes more

1. no the pouring of water have didn't helped to put of the Fire. because the oil would float on water and fire will continue to burn

2. yes I think Sourav's mother have done is right because covering the Fire will cut off the oxygen supply to the Fire And The Fire will go off

3. other ways to turn of Fire are

throwing sand over the Fire and using a fire extinguisher on it
