This talks about how  and to the extent did Christianity change societies in Latin America in the period 1500–1800. Here it talks about Jacinto de la Serna, Catholic priest and religious scholar, who worked towards eradicating idolatry practices in Mexico

Explanation:

  • True, these first priests were working commendably and enthusiastically, to teach the poor. But for all of this, the locals, especially those very far from the major towns where the priests began working, did not leave behind their deceit & blindness. Spread  in remote villages, they were not reached as necessary with doctrine & teaching. The Devil hit the "hardest" in those places, and it was here that the main idolatry teachers continued to pour their venom and persuade people to not "forget" their "ancestors' ways". And it is with such stealth and surreptitiously avoiding discovery when they carry out their idolatry
  • They blended their idolatrous ceremonies with holy, good,  things, uniting "light & darkness", and venerating the Holy Mother, Christ  & the saints (some believe they are Gods), and "their idols". In the meantime they offer sacrifices to fire, sacrificing animals, pour cactus liquor into the church, giving food and drink to their idols, "attributing to them " the sickness that had afflicted them  and seeking favours and assitances in all the matters. ⠀ They had worshiped the Toluca Volcano & Sierra Nevada Mountains, where they used to go often so as make sacrifices regularly, since It was there that their ancient temples were
  • Christianity in Latin America reshaped people's lives in a number of ways during the period from 1500 to 1800, whether social, political , economic or religious. In extensive "preaching & influencing" the minds & beliefs of Indians in Europe, evangelists played an important role. South America's Indian tribes were strongly connected to their "Mother Nature" & its many forms. The Aztecs, the Mayans and the Incas have founded a religion, deities, and gods of celestial stars, animals, and nature (practiced idolatry).
  • In honor of their gods, Aztecs and Mayans made human sacrifices. These practice was changed & they were introduced to Christianity by the Evangelists. The Indians had a strong resistance to evangelists like Bartolomeo Diaz del Castillo. The evangelists first set up their schools, then had built churches &  influenced people.
