If you are talking about general constitution then the source is People i.e constitution is the written text that derives its authority from the people and hence is based on the concept of popular sovereignty. In other words it is an outcome of the contract of between people where they agree to be governed with under such constitution as agreed by them during its making.
If you are asking about any constitution in particular then it depends on country what is the source. It can range from political, historical and geographical particularities to social and economical aspirations. For example- Indian constitution some major sources are -
Government of India Act, 1935Different constitutions of the world(USSR, Spain, France, USA etc)Indian Constituent assembly
