The southernmost river is the Pazhayar river
- The river is situated in the state of Tamil Nadu.
- It flows in the South-Western direction and the total length of the mighty river is around 40km.
- It came from the Mahendragiri hills, which are located at an elevation of 800 metres. It originates in the Mahendragiri Hills and empties into the Arabian Sea not far from Manakudy, Kerala.
- The river's catchment area is over 400 square kilometres, and the basin has several water storage tanks and bunds.
- It also has two basins namely - Tambraparni and Valliyar river basins.
- A canal connects the Tambraparni and Pazhayar basins so that water may be sent into the Pazhayar basin, which is suffering from a water shortage, for agriculture and other purposes.
