Given:

6x + 3y = 8 and 15x - 7y = 10

To find:

Solve the equation

Solution:

6x + 3y = 8 ........ (i)

15x - 7y = 10 ...... (ii)

On multiplying eq. (i) by 7, we get

6x + 3y = 8 ] × 7

⇒ 42x + 21y = 56 ..... (iii)

On multiplying eq. (ii) by 3, we get

15x - 7y = 10 ] × 3

⇒ 45x - 21y = 30 ..... (iv)

On adding eq. (iii) & (iv), we get

42x + 21y = 56

45x - 21y = 30

----------------------

87x = 86

----------------------

∴ x = \frac{86}{87}

On substituting the value of x in eq. (i), we get

(6 × \frac{86}{87}) + 3y = 8

3y = 8 - \frac{516}{87}

3y =  \frac{696 - 516}{87}

3y =  \frac{180}{87}

y =  \frac{60}{87}

Thus,

\boxed{\bold{x = \underline{\frac{86}{87} }}}\\ \\and \\\\\boxed{\bold{y = \underline{\frac{60}{87} }}}
