Step-by-step explanation:

Roots of the first equation will be

x1, x2 = {-b +-✓(b^2-4ac)}/2a

x1-x2 = 2✓(b^2-4ac)/2a

= ✓(p^2-4q)

similarly for second equation , difference of the roots will be

= √(q^2-4p)

it is given that difference for both the pair of roots is same , now we put both the difference equal, we will get

p^2- q^2= 4q-4p

(p-q)(p+q)= -4(p-q)

cancel p-q from both sides

we will get

p+q = -4

p+q+4= 0
