Roots of the first equation will be
x1, x2 = {-b +-✓(b^2-4ac)}/2a
x1-x2 = 2✓(b^2-4ac)/2a
= ✓(p^2-4q)
similarly for second equation , difference of the roots will be
= √(q^2-4p)
it is given that difference for both the pair of roots is same , now we put both the difference equal, we will get
p^2- q^2= 4q-4p
(p-q)(p+q)= -4(p-q)
cancel p-q from both sides
we will get
p+q = -4
p+q+4= 0
