  1. Imbibition - This is the process in which a dry seed absorbs water from the soil water. The absorption raptures the seed coats and allows the radicle to come out in the form of primary root.
  2. Respiration - The seeds need oxygen to germinate thus they acquire oxygen present in the soil
  3. Effect of light on the seed germination - Some seeds are photoblastic this means that they require sunlight for them to germinate.
  4. Role of growth regulator - For seeds to germinate their stored food in the endorsperm or cotyledons depending on the nature of the seeds needs to be digested to aid germination.
  5. Development of Embryo into seedling - After digestion and translocation of food, the cells of the embryo undergo cell division and therefore grow in size to form a seedling.
