Given :

Mass of Aluminium oxide = 0.051g

To find :

Number of gram moles of Aluminium ion

Formula used :

  • Number of mole = mass ÷ molar mass

Additional points :

 \sf \:Molar  \: mass  \: of \:  Aluminium  \: oxide ( Al_{2}O_{3}) = (2 \times 27) + (3 \times 16) \\  \sf \:Molar  \: mass  \: of \:  Aluminium  \: oxide ( Al_{2}O_{3}) = 54 + 48 = \: 102g {mol}^{ - 1}

Procedure :

1. Find moles of Al2O3

2. In one molecules of Al2O3 , there are 2 Aluminium ion , therefore in one mole of Al2O3 there will be 2 mole of aluminium ions

Solution :

Number of mole of Al2O3 = 0.051g ÷ 102

Number of mole of AL2O3 = 0.0005 moles

1 mole of Al2O3 contain 2 moles (or gram moles) of Aluminium ion

therefore, Number of moles of Aluminium ion in " 0.0005 moles ' of Al2O3 = 0.0005 × 2

Number of mole of Aluminium ion = 0.001 mole

ANSWER :

Option (1) 0.001 moles
