Let his initial salary was = rs x

increased amount of salary = 15% of rs x

= rs 15/100×x

present salary = initial salary + increased salary

= rs x + rs 15x/100

= rs 100x + rs 15x/ 100

= rs 115/100

present salary = rs 9936

115x/100 = 9936

x = 9936×100/115

x = 432×20

= rs 8640

therefore ,initial salary was = rs 8640
