igneous rocks are formed when lava cools down quickly on earth's surface it is called extrusive igneous rocks ex- Pumice,basalt. when magma (lava) cools down slowly in the earth's surface are called intrusive igneous rocks ex-granite,obsidian.

Igneous rocks are also called primary rocks.They are the first type of rocks formed on earth.When molten magma cools down it becomes solid.Rocks thus formed are called igneous rocks.There are two types of igneous rocks: extrusive and intrusive igneous rocks.When molten magma cools down on the surface of the earth's crust ,it becomes solid.Rocks thus formed are  called extrusive igneous rocks.When molten magma cools down deep inside the earth it becomes solid.Rocks thus formed are called intrusive igneous rock...................please mark as brainliest.........
