mitochondria is know as power house of energy or cell.
the energy required for various chemical activities needed for life is released by mitochondria in the form of adeosine triphopshate (ATP) molecules.

These are small red shaped organelles. It is a double membrane structure. Outer membrane is smooth. whereas inner membrane is projected into numerous fingerlike structure called cristae.Mitochondria contains their own DNA and ribosomes.
Functions:-
1= They store energy for the vital activities of living cells.
2=They store energy release during reaction in the form of atp
